Blue Raiders Set for Home Opener Against SEMO Tuesday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After opening its 2023 season at the Baseball at the Beach showcase at Coastal Carolina's Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C., Middle Tennessee Baseball will have its home opener against the SEMO Redhawks on Tuesday at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
Tuesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+. WGNS will carry the matchup on 101.9 FM / 1450 AM and 100.5 FM in Smyrna, with Bob Jamison and John Callow on the call. GoBlueRaiders.com and the Varsity Network App will also carry the audio broadcast.
All-Time Against SEMO
The Blue Raiders hold a 21-13 all-time series lead over SEMO. MTSU took the first ever game between the programs 10-1 in 1992 and have won four in a row against the Redhawks. It has been since 2003 since the teams most recently played, however, when the sides battled out an 11-9 win for the Blue Raiders. MTSU has not lost to SEMO since 2000 and has not lost at home to the Redhawks since 1997.

» Seven Blue Raiders made their MTSU debuts this past weekend in Conway. Transfer Jeremiah Boyd hit .250 with a HR. Juco transfer Kam Johnson had a two-run single as a pinch hitter Sunday. Pitchers Justin Lee, Caleb Peterson, Kota Sato, Cole Torbett and Patrick Johnson also made their first Blue Raider appearances.
Scouting the Redhawks
» SEMO won its season opener against Central Arkansas on Friday, but followed its 11-3 win with a pair of losses to the same team to fall to 1-2 ahead of Tuesday.
» INF Lincoln Andrews leads the Redhawks in hitting so far this season, batting .333 in the team's opening weekend.
» OFs Josh Cameron and Brett Graber follow Andrews in average, hitting .250 and .231 respectively on the year.
» RHP Bryce Grossius is currently set to start on the mound. The super senior carried an 8.35 ERA in 2022 with a .317 BAA across 13 appearances and seven starts.
