MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's assistant basketball coach Nina Davis has been named Thirty Under 30 for the 2022-23 season as announced by the WBCA Monday.
The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches aged 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner, and attitude and professional association involvement.
Davis just completed her third season as an assistant coach with the Lady Raiders.
"Nina Davis is a rising star in this business and the WBCA was correct in recognizing her talents as one of the young up-and-coming coaches in this industry," Lady Raider Head Coach Rick Insell said. "She has impacted our program tremendously in her three seasons at Middle Tennessee."
Davis, a native of Memphis, Tenn., is involved in every aspect of the program, including on-floor coaching, player development and recruiting. Her excellent leadership skills and knowledge of the game are great assets, along with having learned the game from hall of fame coaches.
Davis enjoyed a brilliant four-year career at Baylor where she played for Hall of Fame Coach Kim Mulkey and helped lead the Bears to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments. Baylor reached the Elite Eight in each of Davis's four seasons.
"I'm am appreciative to be so honored by the WBCA," Davis said. "To be included on this list with so many outstanding coaches in women's basketball is certainly means a great deal. I'm thankful for the opportunities basketball has provided me and continues to provide me."
Led by Davis, MTSU's versatile group of post players consisting of Anastasiia Boldyreva, Courtney Whitson and Kseniya Malashka, were impactful pieces of this year's C-USA regular-season and tournament championships and NCAA Tournament berth, as well as last season's deep run into the WNIT semifinals.
