MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Baseball 3B Gabe Jennings has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the week, for his superb play throughout the Blue Raiders' Conference USA opening series, and last week's home contest against Tennessee Tech.
The infielder from Lebenon, Tenn. hit .500 across four games this past week, with two doubles, a triple, a home run and nine RBI.
Against Tennessee Tech on March 15, Jennings went 4-5 with six RBI and was a triple away from the cycle. His six RBI was tied for sixth-most in program history in a single game.
In last Friday's series opener against WKU, Jennings was 3-4, driving in the go-ahead runs for Middle Tennessee in the seventh inning of the Blue Raiders' 12-8 win.
The junior has started each game at third base for the Blue Raiders and is currently batting .270 on the year. Among qualifying stat earners, his .913 OPS ranks third on the squad. Jennings' four home runs is also tied for a team-high.
Jennings' accolade marks the third time this season a Blue Raider has won recognition from the TSWA. RHP Jaden Hamm took home Pitcher of the Week honors on March 14 and February 21.
The Blue Raiders are back in action Tuesday night at Tennessee Tech for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch in Cookeville. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. MTSU is next at home on March 31 against FIU.
