Blue Raiders Fall in Regular Season Finale, Lock into No. 7 Seed at C-USA Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Middle Tennessee Baseball concluded the regular season Saturday at the Charlotte 49ers with a 5-2 defeat at Hayes Stadium.
Middle Tennessee concludes the regular season slate with a 25-27 record, and a 14-16 mark in C-USA.
Charlotte opened Saturday's series finale with a two-run home run in the first inning, and added to its cushion with a solo homer in the third.
Another 49er two-run home made it 5-0 in favor of the home team in the fifth, before the Blue Raiders got on the scoreboard with a JT Mabry RBI double in the sixth.
Eston Snider added another run for the Raiders with a two-out RBI single to score DJ Wright in the seventh.
The Skipper Speaks
"We have always continued to compete this year. There have been times we haven't always executed. I don't think there is any question in my mind what our guys' makeup is, and how they compete. It's not always pretty. But effort-wise, we've stayed at a strong baseline throughout the season," said head coach Jerry Meyers.
"Our second season is over. We had our first season in non-conference play, we had the conference season, and now we have our third season."
By the Numbers
2.0: Starting pitcher Patrick Johnson struck out one over 2.0 innings pitched, picking up the decision.
4.1: Kota Sato had four strikeouts out of the bullpen across 4.1 frames.
2-4: Mabry and Wright were each 2-4 with a double.
Blue Raider Notes
Three Blue Raiders started each game of the regular season. Mabry was the squad's everyday second baseman, Brett Coker got the nod each matchup at shortstop and Gabe Jennings featured in all 52 lineups at third base.
Mabry led off in Saturday's lineup, and was the regular season's most frequent leadoff hitter, with 24 games in the top spot. He also closes the regular season on an 11-game hitting streak and on-base streak of 12.
The Chesterfield, Mo. native also had his 20th multi-hit game of the season Saturday, tying Coker for most in the regular season.
