Cross Country in Chicago for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's cross country team will compete in Chicago, Ill. for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational. The 8K race begins at 10:45 a.m. CT on September 29.

In both the men's and women's races the Blue Raiders placed two runners in the top-five. For the men's team, Brian Kiptoo and Habtamu Geta took third and fourth. On the women's side Faith Nyathi and Purity Sanga took fourth and fifth place.
In the men's race, The Blue Raiders were led by Brian Kiptoo who placed third with a time of 23:36.90s and Habtamu Geta placed fourth with a time of 23:42.70s.
The Blue Raiders finished in fifth place with a team score of 141 out of 32 total teams with four SEC schools ahead of MTSU. This marks the second top-five finish for the men's team this season.
The women's cross-country team was led by Faith Nyathi and Purity Sanga in their sixth-place finish at the Southern Showcase with 32 total teams. The team scored 210 points, finishing just behind the fifth-place Kentucky Wildcats.
Faith Nyathi ran a time of 16:50.20s for a new personal best time. Purity Sanga was close behind running a 16:50.60s time to finish fifth.
