Blue Raiders complete day two of Alabama Four in the Fall, begins ITA All-American Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team competed in day two of the Alabama Four in the Fall in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and started play at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
At the Alabama Four in the Fall, Karim Al-Amin and Shu Matsuoka fought in the tiebreak to win 7-6 (0) against Alabama's Matias Ponce De Leon and Roan Jones. The freshmen duo of Igor Mandou Berranger and Kristian Thomas got it done with a 6-4 victory over Miguel Avendano and Piet Steveker of Louisville.
In singles, Mandou Berranger picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Steveker of Louisville.

"Doubles was better but still some fundamentals we can improve on. In singles, guys are still picking and choosing when they compete. We need guys that compete 100% of the time, not just when we feel like it."

To start off the ITA All-American Championships, Javier Cueto Ramos battled back from losing the first set 4-6 to win the next two 6-2, 6-3 against Drake's Matthew Clegg. Leo Raquin followed Cueto Ramos with a victory over Hofstra's Ostap Kovalenko 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Ondrej Horak won 6-4, 7-6 (4) against Nicolas Simkin of Troy. Raquin picked up his second singles win by defeating Cleveland State's Mikael Erler 6-0, 6-2. Horak capped off the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Connor Bruce of Dayton. Horak and Raquin move on the next round and will continue play on Sunday.
Demis Taramonlis and Marcel Kamrowski fell in their single matches respectively. Taramonlis and Kamrowski will play one match in the back draw on Sunday.
