Lady Raiders roll past Gamecocks 67-45

Middle Tennessee moves to 5-0 in CUSA play
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Thanks to a balanced offensive attack and strong defense, Middle Tennessee rolled past Jax State 67-45 on Wednesday evening at the Pete Mathews Coliseum.
The Lady Raiders (15-4, 5-0 CUSA) used an early 12-0 run to take a nine-point lead over the Gamecocks (6-11, 1-4 CUSA) entering the first media break. MTSU would continue to shutdown the Jax State offense and take a 23-8 lead into the second quarter. The Lady Raiders continued to knock down transition threes and feed junior Anastasiia Boldyreva in the paint to build a 19-point lead. Middle Tennessee then took a 40-18 lead into the half.
Coming out of the locker room MTSU continued to attack the paint and junior Jalynn Gregory hit her fifth three-pointer on the night to give the Lady Raiders a 25-point edge over the Gamecocks with five minutes remaining in the third period. Middle Tennessee led 56-31 heading into the final quarter and would go on to win 67-45.
Boldyreva led all scorers with 27 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks and three assists. She was followed by Gregory who tallied 24 points, four assists and two steals, while Savannah Wheeler added 11 points and four assists and Courtney Whitson grabbed 11 boards.
By the Numbers
45: The Lady Raiders grabbed a season-high 45 rebounds on the night while outrebounding the Gamecocks 45-41.
10: Middle Tennessee is 142-18 under Coach Insell when connecting on 10 or more three-point field goals.
33:30: Middle Tennessee had a balanced attack on the evening, scoring 33 points in the paint and 30 from beyond the arc.
Lady Raider Notes
• Jax State's 18 points in the first half ties the season low for an MTSU opponent. The Lady Raiders also held Houston to 18 points earlier this season.
• Gregory hit a career-high with eight three-point field goals on the evening - previously hit seven against Memphis (12/10/22). With eight three-pointers, Gregory became the 17th player in CUSA history to eclipse 200 career three-pointers.
• Boldyreva posted her eighth career double-double and seventh of the season. The junior tallied 27 points and tied her career-high with 15 rebounds.

The Lady Raiders head to Miami to take on the FIU Panthers on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tipoff is slated for 12 p.m. CT and the game will broadcast on ESPN+.
