MTSU Sweeps Jax State for Second Straight Victory

Blue Raiders set a season-high in service aces en route to dominant victory
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — What a performance by the Blue Raiders. Middle Tennessee volleyball defeated Jacksonville State in a sweep fashion winning three sets to zero. This afternoon marked the Blue Raiders best performance of the season setting a season-high in service aces and had their highest hitting percentage since the beginning of September. The scores of the sets were as follows: 25-11, 25-11 and 25-17.
The Blue Raiders (8-12, 4-4) had an exceptional start to the match recording their two best sets of the season to get the momentum started early. Middle Tennessee volleyball played phenomenal defense this afternoon, forcing the Gamecocks (7-14, 0-8) to a negative hitting percentage of -.012. The Blue Raiders recorded a .351 hitting percentage, their second highest of the season and highest since Sept. 7. MTSU was very aggressive serving the ball recording a season-high 11 service aces to 11 service errors.
Junior Adriana Rhoda led the team in kills this afternoon with 15 on an elite .444 hitting percentage. Rhoda also tallied a service ace to bring her career total to 110, seven away from breaking the program record during the 25-point era. The Blue Raiders' defensive specialist showed out with Alivia Bronner and Allyson Eckel recording nine and eight, respectively. Bronner also led the squad in service aces with three. Libero Laure Jansen tallied nine of her own digs and a service ace on top.
When asked about the team's season-high in service aces performance, senior Laure Jansen stated, "We were very aggressive and focused while serving and hit our zones well. We have spent a ton of time practicing our serves, so it is nice to see that work paying off."

The Blue Raiders will look to extend their winning streak when they travel to Lynchburg, Va. to take on Liberty Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19. The matches are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. CT, respectively, and will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats can be found at StatBroadcast.com.
