Blue Raiders improve to 7-5 in CUSA play as Adriana Rhoda records her 1,000th kill
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee volleyball completed a series sweep in a two-match series against LA Tech, extending their home win streak to seven. The Blue Raiders held the Bulldogs to a miniscule .087 hitting percentage, which proved too much for them to overcome. The scores of the sets were as follows: 25-23, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-17.
The Blue Raiders (11-13, 7-5), building off a 12-block performance from the previous night, maintained their momentum recording 11 this match, with eight of them being in the final two sets. The Bulldogs (6-19, 0-12) were held to a .087 hitting percentage, compared to the Blue Raider's .199. When holding their opponent to an under .100 hitting percentage, Middle Tennessee volleyball now holds a 4-0 record. The Blue Raiders tallied an impressive eight service aces, their highest total in the past five matches.
It was a historic day for outside hitter Adriana Rhoda, who recorded the 1,000th kill of her outstanding collegiate career, becoming the 15th Blue Raider in the 1,000 kills club. Rhoda achieved this impressive feat in just her 81st match, averaging an impressive 12.49 kills per match. Setter Andi Spies added another exceptional performance to her freshman season, notching her 11th double-double with 40 assists and 16 digs. Sophomore Allyson Eckel also contributed to the win, recording her highest dig total since September 13, finishing with 14 digs.
When asked about her historic performance, Adriana Rhoda said the following: "I'm really grateful for the opportunity to be able to reach this milestone. Having a team and a setter who trust me to take as many swings as I do, I'm really appreciative and grateful for all of them. Volleyball has always been so much fun for me, and I love being able to celebrate and have fun with my team."
