Adriana Rhoda ties career-high with 26 kills
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee volleyball was eliminated from the Conference USA Tournament in the first round by Kennesaw State. The match was a five-set thriller as the Owls managed to finish the match on a 5-0 run to finish off the Blue Raiders. The scores of the sets were 25-15, 27-25, 25-14, 25-19, and 15-12.
The Blue Raiders end the season with a 13-18 record while going 9-10 in conference play. One area of the match where MTSU excelled was returning serves as they held the Owls (14-16, 11-8) to zero service aces, compared to five of their own. The Blue Raiders recorded 55 kills to the Owls 66 as MTSU finishes the season with an 0-12 record when recording less kills than their opponent. Middle Tennessee volleyball finished the match with a .223 hitting percentage, right along with their season average of .219.
Following a performance where she set a career-high in kills, junior Adriana Rhoda matched that total with 26 in today's match. Rhoda finishes the season with 484 kills, ranking fourth in program-history, during the 25-point era. In addition, Rhoda set a program-record, during the 25-point era, for career service aces with 117, after recording two today. Senior Laure Jansen recorded a match-high 14 digs. Setter Andi Spies finished off her spectacular freshman season with 44 assists in today's match, bringing her total to 1,115 on the season. That marks the most by a freshman in program history, during the 25-point era.
