Middle Tennessee Routes SIUE 85-41 Behind Gregory’s 20 Points, Boldyreva’s Double-Double

Blue Raiders improve to 7-2 with the win over the Cougars
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (7-2) returned to the win column today with a dominant 85-41 win over the SIUE Cougars (1-6) at the Murphy Center in a very loud Education Day matchup.
The Blue Raiders dominated the game from the opening tip, creating 12 first-quarter turnovers from the Cougars, resulting in 12 points off turnovers and seven fastbreak points. MTSU kick-started their big win with a 15-2 scoring run and finished the quarter outscoring SIUE 9-2. Middle Tennessee jumped out to a 24-4 lead by quarter's end, behind nine points from Jalynn Gregory and six points and five rebounds from Anastasiia Boldyreva.
The dominance continued into quarter No. 2, as the Blue Raiders' suffocating defense holding the Cougars to just one made field goal through the first 15 minutes, leading 35-4. MTSU maintained their edge at the midway point of the game, leading 49-17 at the halftime break.
The home advantage improved to 43 at the two-minute mark of the third quarter, the largest lead of the afternoon for the Blue Raiders. With a sizeable lead on the scoreboard, head coach Rick Insell was able to look to his bench to see out the final 10 minutes of the game. Led by freshman Savannah Davis, the Middle Tennessee bench capped off an impressive 85-41 win at home over SIUE.
Boldyreva recorded her second double-double in her last three games, going for 18 points, shooting 8-14 from the field, and 14 rebounds today, to go with three blocks in 23 minutes. Gregory featured as today's Player of the Game with 20 points on 8-13 shooting and 3-6 from beyond the arc.
As a team, the Blue Raiders scored a season-high 85 points, along with their second-highest field goal percentage of the season at 51%. Middle Tennessee leaned heavily on its bench down the stretch of the game with five different players totaling 23 points, led by Davis with a career-high 12.
