MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The 2024-25 Indoor Track & Field season begins with the Dean Hayes Classic on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7. The meet will be the only home meet of the indoor season, with it taking place at the Murphy Center Track in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The meet kicks off at 4:00 p.m. CT, on Friday, with events taking place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 7, the events will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the final event of the meet taking place at 3:00 p.m. Tennessee State University and individual unattached runners from across the Southeast will be attending the meet.
The Blue Raiders are coming off a very successful Cross Country season that featured two student-athletes finishing in first place at the Conference USA Championships. Those runners were freshman Allan Kiplagat for the men and freshman Odilia Jepchumba for the women. At the regional championships, Kiplagat finished fifth overall, qualifying for the NCAA National Championships, meanwhile Sandra Maiyo led the women with an 18th place finish.
At the NCAA National Championships in Madison, Wis., Kiplagat recorded the best performance in MTSU Cross Country history finishing in 19th place, earning him All-American honors. He finished with a time of 29:12.8. The Blue Raiders will look to bring their strong momentum from the cross-country season with them to the indoor track & field season.
