Blue Raiders fall short against Auburn in the first round of the Blue Gray Championships on Friday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — No. 26-ranked Middle Tennessee men's tennis opened up play in the first round of the Blue Gray Championships facing No. 48-ranked Auburn on Friday, Feb. 24 in Montgomery, Ala. MTSU's battle against the Tiger fell short 2-4 in the first round but bounce back to win doubles against Boise State.
The Blue Raiders claimed the doubles point with victories on court No. 1 and No. 3. Ondrej Horak and Leo Raquin handled business on court No. 1 winning 6-1 over Dobai and Murgett. On court No. 3, Karim Al-Amin and Marcel Kamrowski secured the doubles point for MTSU with a 7-5 victory against Stice and Nolan.
To start singles play, the Tigers picked up wins on court No. 1, No. No. 3 and No. 5. Kamrowski earned his second victory of the day by defeating Raul Dobai 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 on court No. 2. Auburn clinched the win with a victory on court No. 6.
MTSU would face No. 51 Boise State in doubles later on Friday. On court No. 1, Horak and Raquin picked up their second doubles win of the day by tallying a 6-4 win against Sippel and van Assendelf. Javier Cueto Ramos and Shu Matsuoka claimed the doubles point for MTSU defeating Moortgart and Marquardt. The Blue Raiders will continue the dual match vs. Boise State on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 10:30 a.m. CT.
