Lady Raiders roll past Lady Toppers 59-41, Clinch CUSA Regular Season Title

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Thanks to another strong defensive performance, Middle Tennessee defeated WKU 59-41 on Saturday afternoon at E.A. Diddle Arena. With the win, the Lady Raiders clinched the Conference USA Regular Season title for the second consecutive season.
The Lady Raiders (23-4, 13-0 CUSA) opened the game strong defensively, holding the Lady Toppers (15-13, CUSA) scoreless over the opening five minutes of play. WKU shot just 2-of-19 from the field in the first quarter giving MTSU a 14-4 lead heading into the second. Both squads found their offensive rhythm in the second period as the Lady Raiders extended their lead to 14 midway through the quarter, but took a 31-20 lead into the half.
Coming out of the locker room, both squads were in a battle, however, a five-minute 12-2 run gave Middle Tennessee a 46-26 lead heading into the final period. In the fourth, the Lady Raider lead grew to 23 points, however, a late surge by WKU cut the lead to 14 points with just two minutes remaining. MTSU would go on to win 59-41
Savannah Wheeler led all scorers with 18 points. She was followed by Ta'Mia Scott with 16 points, five rebounds and four steals, Anastasiia Boldyreva with a 13-point, 14-rebound double-double, and Courtney Whitson with 10 points and seven rebounds.
By the Numbers
21: With today's 59-41 win over WKU, the Lady Raiders clinched the Conference USA Regular Season title. This marks the 21st regular season conference title in program history.
10-5: Coming into today's game, the Lady Topper led the league in Steals (10.9). MTSU held WKU to just five steals on the afternoon, while the Lady Raiders logged 10 - a season-high in league play.
42: MTSU shot 21-of-50 (42 percent) from the field on the afternoon and held WKU to 17-of-64 (27 percent).
Lady Raider Notes
• Four Lady Raiders tallied double-figure scoring on the afternoon. The last time four players scored 10 or more points was against Liberty on Feb. 8, 2024.
• With only 41 points on the night, the Lady Raiders have now held four consecutive opponents to an average of 39.7 PPG.
• Double-Double: Boldyreva tallied her 10th career double-double and ninth of the season against WKU.
• Double Digits: Wheeler logged her 112th career double-digit scoring performance, while Whitson notched her 67th, Boldyreva posted her 37th and Scott tallied her 16th.
