Al-Amin, Raquin named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Conference USA announced its men's tennis All-Academic Team on Friday, which included Karim Al-Amin and Leo Raquin of Middle Tennessee on the six-person list.
"This is a huge award for Leo and Karim, said MTSU Head Coach Jimmy Borendame. Both of these guys have done a great job both on and off the court. I am proud of both of them."
Al-Amin accumulated a 3.8 GPA while pushing for a degree in Psychology.
 
On the court this season, Al-Amin sports a 7-2 singles record. In doubles play, Karim has picked up eight wins. In 2023, he was named Southland Freshman of the Year as well as Second Team All-Conference in singles and doubles.
Raquin earned a 3.73 GPA while pursuing a degree Finance, Economics and Business Administration. He is a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and was a member of the 2022 AAC All-Academic Team in 2022.
In athletic achievements this season, Leo posted a 15-8 mark in singles tallying eight wins over ranked opponents. His 15 wins leads the team this season. In doubles, Raquin has a record of 16-4. The senior has been the highest ranked singles player in CUSA all season long and is currently slotted at No. 32. Raquin is also ranked No. 26 in doubles with Ondrej Horak. Raquin won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional back in the fall.
Nominees must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have participated in 75 percent of the teams' scheduled matches. Candidates should be a sophomore class standing, but redshirt freshmen are eligible if they have completed enough credits. The All-Academic Team was voted on by Academic Advisors across the eight C-USA member schools who sponsor men's tennis.
