Blue Raiders Kick Off 2024 Season Sunday vs. Belmont

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – With opening day of the 2024 season on the horizon, Middle Tennessee women's soccer is set for the program's 28th campaign with a Sunday evening matchup with the Belmont Bruins at 6 P.M. at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
History vs. Belmont
The Blue Raiders face Belmont for the 16th time in program history, renewing a coveted in-state rivalry. Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series 9-4-2, with their previous outing against the Bruins resulting in a 3-1 win at Dean A. Hayes Stadium last season.
About Middle Tennessee
In 2024, the Blue Raiders are led by graduate student defender Lauren Spaanstra, two returning seniors in midfielder Sascha Nielson and forward Faith Adje and Nova Southeastern senior transfer defender Emma Brown.
In 2023, standout midfielder Manon Lebargy scored a team-high eight goals and three assists, which earned her a spot on the CUSA All-Conference Second Team. Prior to the 2024 season, the France native was named to the CUSA All-Conference Preseason Team.
The Blue Raiders feature six freshmen on their 2024 roster in goalkeeper Demi Gronauer, defenders Jess Gray and Allie Carroll, midfielders Ryan Colton and Aireona Duenez and forward Lexi Dendis.
Head Coach Aston Rhoden enters his 23rd season at the program's helm. The Jamaica native has led the Blue Raiders to three conference championships during his tenure and carries a 201-160-38 overall record entering this season.
Middle Tennessee coach Hannah Hoefs, who enters her third season in Murfreesboro, was promoted to associate head coach on July 26 after joining Aston Rhoden's staff in July 2022.

Belmont kicked off their 2024 season on Thursday with a 3-1 home loss to the Lindenwood Lions. Junior defender Kennedy Wise opened the season's scoring account for the Bruins with the third goal of her career.
Belmont features 16 returning players, including seniors Carly Ross, Leah Firsdon, Allison Brockelman and Summer Curtis and graduates Sydney Jones and Abbigail Legg, as well as 11 newcomers, including eight incoming freshman and three transfers.
Head coach Kelsey Cameron enters her second season at the helm of the Bruins, along with returning assistant coaches Daniel Vieira and Hailey Kerridge and first-year goalkeeper coach Kate Mason.
