Cross Country takes home three weekly Conference USA awards after the Southern Showcase

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Three Blue Raiders have been awarded a Conference USA weekly honor for their performance at the Southern Showcase in Hunstville, Ala. on Friday.
The men swept both awards with Brian Kiptoo grabbing Athlete of the Week and Allan Kiplagat earning Freshman of the Week. Kiptoo is continuing his dominant junior season and adds to his trophy collection with this honor. He came in sixth place out of 477 runners in Rocket City last Friday with a time of 23:46.80 for the 8k race. Kiplagat was right behind him to grab seventh place with a time of 23:55.90 to take home the CUSA Men's Freshman of the Week award.
Odilia Jepchumba won the CUSA Freshman of the Week after her sixth place finish in Huntsville. Out of 474 total runners, she was the first non-power four runner to place with a stellar time of 16:52.20 in the 5k in her first race as a Blue Raider.
The Blue Raiders will travel to Columbia, Missouri on September 27th for their next meet of the cross country season and their next shot at CUSA honors.
