DALLAS – Continuing her impressive start to collegiate play, Middle Tennessee freshman guard Blair Baugus has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Baugus, a native of Waynesboro, Tennessee, is one of the most productive freshmen in the country. She opened the week with six points and a career-high 12 rebounds across 33 minutes of action at Tennessee Tech. She added two blocks, two steals and an assist, anchoring the Blue Raiders defensively.
She followed that performance with a career-high 22 points, pulled down seven rebounds, added two assists and collected three steals while logging a career-high 38 minutes. Her 22-point outing marked the highest single-game total by any CUSA freshman this season. The freshman is averaging 12.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 2.8 steals and 2.0 assists while shooting 40.9 percent from the field.
Through four games, Baugus has firmly established herself as one of Conference USA's most complete players:
- Second in CUSA in rebounding (10.5 RPG) — top freshman in the league
- First in CUSA in blocks (9 total)
- Fifth in CUSA in steals
- Leads all CUSA freshmen in scoring (12.8 PPG)
- The only CUSA freshman ranked top-five in rebounding, steals and blocks
