MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — For Middle Tennessee State University sophomore Caroline Pardue, golf has always been more than a sport. It's been a bond, a home, and a lifelong dream in the making.
Growing up in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Pardue was raised just around the corner from MTSU's campus. Long before she wore the Blue and White, she was a little girl in a cheer uniform, running the sidelines as a "ball girl" at basketball games, shouting for her favorite Blue Raiders from the stands. Those early memories planted the first seeds of a connection that would one day become her collegiate reality.
But her deepest connection began even earlier at the driving range. It was her dad, Michael Pardue, who first put a club in her hands. By age six, she was playing; by nine, she was competing. And through it all, the father-daughter bond only strengthened.
"We've always had a tight bond because of this," she says. "I know I can always lean on him no matter what."
So when it came time to choose where she would continue her academic and athletic journey, the decision was effortless.
"It's always been home, and I knew how much endless love and support I would have to make me an even greater student and player," she says. Her strong understanding of the university, its people, and its values guided her straight into the Blue Raider family.
Ask her what makes MTSU unique, and she struggles with the answer. Not because she doesn't know, but because so much does. Yet one thing rises above the rest: the community.
That support is felt daily within the Blue Raiders women golf program. Under Head Coach Lauren Wamsley, Pardue has grown both in discipline and confidence. Wamsley continually pushes her to become, in Caroline's words, 'better than I was, better than I'm going to be.'
As she continues her journey at MTSU with balancing classes, training, tournaments, and the constant pursuit of improvement - Caroline carries with her a perspective rooted in gratitude.
Her message to others walking similar paths is simple:
"Embrace it all, because even in the tough moments, learn to be grateful for where you're at. Cherish the moments and the time you're going to have, because it does go by in a blink."
