Phifer named CUSA Freshman of the Week

DALLAS – After turning in the best performance of her collegiate career, Middle Tennessee freshman Macie Phifer has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. The honor marks the first weekly award of Phifer's career.
Phifer delivered a career night in the Blue Raiders' matchup against Southern Indiana, recording a career-high 20 points and a career-best 10 rebounds to secure her first collegiate double-double. She added two blocks and an assist.
The New Albany, Mississippi native, went 7-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 3-of-5 at the free-throw line. With 20 points, Phifer became the third MTSU freshman to score 20 or more points this season.
Phifer's breakout performance continues to highlight Middle Tennessee's strong freshman class, as she becomes the latest Blue Raider to earn weekly conference honors early in the season.
