DALLAS – Continuing to play well beyond her freshman status, Middle Tennessee guard Blair Baugus has been selected as the Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. This marks Baugus' third CUSA Freshman of the Week honor this season.
Baugus, one of the most productive freshmen in the nation, opened the week with a dynamic performance against Belmont, recording 21 points, three rebounds, three steals, and two assists while shooting an efficient 9-of-15 from the field. She also went 3-for-4 at the free-throw line and played a key role in the Blue Raiders' dramatic comeback, which fell just short after they trailed by 20 in the first half.
She followed that performance with a dominant effort in the win over Memphis, finishing with 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Baugus added three steals and an assist, shooting 5-of-10 from the floor and 9-of-12 at the line. The outing marked her third game this season with 19 or more points and at least three steals, underscoring her two-way impact.
Through nine games, Baugus has firmly established herself as one of Conference USA's most complete players:
- 4th in CUSA in rebounding (9.3 RPG) — top freshman in the league
- 4th in CUSA in blocks (10 total) — top freshman in the league
- 6th in CUSA in steals — top freshman in the league
- Leads all CUSA freshmen in scoring (13.4 PPG)
The Blue Raiders travel to Evansville, Indiana, to face the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. CT inside Liberty Arena. The game will air on the Blue Raider Network and stream live on ESPN+.
