MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis head coach Jimmy Borendame announced another addition to the squad for the fall, as local standout Rich LaLance has committed to the Blue Raiders.
A Murfreesboro native, LaLance is set to play for his hometown university and currently attends Siegel High School, where he plays under head coach Jeff Martin. During his time at Siegel, he won a state championship with the team and was named the Most Improved Juniors Player in 2023. He is also a member of the Tennessee Ozaki Junior Cup team. LaLance has been ranked as high as No. 33 in the South by the USTA and No. 2 in the state of Tennessee.
Rich LaLance on joining the Blue Raiders
"Growing up in the Blue Raider community, it's been a dream of mine to play for MTSU and Coach Jimmy."
Jimmy Borendame on adding LaLance
"I am very excited about Rich joining the Blue Raider family. I have seen his development since he was only three years old, both as a tennis player and as a person. He is just starting to scratch the surface of what he is capable of. Rich is exactly what we look for in a student-athlete—strong in the classroom, hardworking, full of integrity, and passionate about improving his tennis."
