JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Middle Tennessee men's basketball fell on the road Friday night, dropping 75-58 to Jacksonville State at Pete Mathews Coliseum.
The Blue Raiders struggled out of the gate, surrendering a 16-0 run as the Gamecocks built a 24-9 advantage in the opening 10 minutes. Middle Tennessee responded behind Tre Green, who buried three consecutive 3-pointers to spark a rally and pull MTSU back within striking distance. The Blue Raiders closed the half trailing by just five, 39-34.
Jacksonville State regained control early in the second half, extending the lead with a strong opening stretch that proved too much for Middle Tennessee to overcome. The Gamecocks pulled away down the stretch to secure the 17-point win.
MTSU placed three players in double figures, led by Kamari Lands with 15 points. Jahvin Carter added 13, while Green finished with 12.
Nick McDevitt:
"I just thought they got to do really what they wanted for most of the night. We weren't disruptive at all. They were able to get in the paint and shoot free throws. We just really didn't do anything on the defensive end to make them uncomfortable."
By the Numbers
9: Luca Jovanovic scored a career-high nine points
5 & 6: Jahvin Carter recorded six rebounds and five assists
