MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team completed a weekend sweep of FIU Saturday in a 3-0 victory at the Alumni Memorial Gym.
MTSU (14-4, 5-1 Conference USA) has now won four consecutive matches and have swept three-of-four matches in that span.
The two-straight weekend sweeps mark the first time the program has achieved the feat since Oct. 27 to Nov. 4, 2024, when the Blue Raiders swept Sam Houston and Louisiana Tech.
"I'm super proud of this group," head coach Alex Keckler said. "They continue to show so much heart and fight. The second set was an all out battle and our team never gave up. They leaned on each other and found ways to get the job done."
Sophia Henry led kills on the day, picking up 14, followed by Gabrielle Clinkscale with 11 and Jaslyn Reed with 10.
Michaela Dlouhá had five blocks on the day and Marianne Garcia had 14 digs.
Caroline Macander led the way setting-wise for the Blue Raiders with 33 assists.
MTSU took the first set, winning 25-18. Reed picked up the decisive kill.
In an intense second set, the Panthers (10-9, 1-5) went back-and-forth with the Blue Raiders, pushing the set to extra points. After a topsy-turvy series, Dlouhá put away the set with a blooped shot that found the middle of the FIU defensive alignment.
Middle Tennessee dominated the third set, winning 25-10 to close the weekend and the match. Reed picked up the match-winning kill.
