MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Men's Tennis concluded the Middle Tennessee Invite on Sunday, winning a pair of doubles matches to send off the event.
MTSU swept its doubles competition, hailing from Alabama and Louisville, highlighting a perfect showing for the pair of Santiago Lora and Rich LaLance through the weekend.
Lora and LaLance kept their weekend perfect after taking down Louisville's Artem Dmytrenko and Maksim Hristov, 6-3. Vassard and Jacques followed up their victory with a 6-3 decision of their own against Alabama's Yoshka Sborowsky and Rohan Hazratwala.
The Blue Raiders did not win a singles competition on Sunday, with the Crimson Tide and Cardinals claiming the victories. For Alabama, Sborowsky edged out Lora with a 7-5, 6-3 result, while Hazratwala took down Jacques, 6-2, 6-3.
Vassard authored MTSU's closest singles match, falling to Hristov in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4.
The final singles match of the weekend belonged to Dmytrenko, who bested LaLance in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Up next, Middle Tennessee will participate in the Rome Invitational from Oct. 23-25 in Rome, Ga.
