Lima and Conde advance in doubles after second day of Ohio Valley Regionals

MASON, Ohio – The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team wrapped up the second day of competition at the 2026 ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Mason, Ohio, at the University of Cincinnati.
Sara Conde and Sthefany Lima remain in the competition representing MTSU, as the duo advanced to the second round of open doubles play on Friday.
In their Friday afternoon match, the pair defeated Austin Peay's Peyton Duckett and Pauline Bruns, 8-4. The victory marked Conde's third doubles victory of the season and the first for Lima, who has now picked up three victories in the 2026 Ohio Valley Regional following her two singles matches yesterday.
Elsewhere in doubles, Victoria Matasova and Zhanel Rustemova opened play against Purdue's Reese Frank and Kathryn Wilson. The transfer duo was unable to claim the victory, falling 8-5 to the Boilermakers duo.
MTSU's final doubles pair could not accomplish its mission, with Lena Peyer and Maria Palacios falling to Vanderbilt's Mia Yamakita and Erin Pearce, 8-2.
In singles play, Matasova began her tournament from the main draw, falling in a tight three-set contest. She fell to Chattanooga's Liam Oved in the first set, 6-3, before responding with a 6-4 victory to even the tie. She conceded the final set, 6-4, to ultimately concede the match.
Lima, who fought her way to the main draw through qualifying, fell in straight sets to Yamakita, 6-1, 6-2.
Tomorrow, the pair of Lima and Conde will face off against Louisville's Maeve Thornton and Rinon Okuwaki at 9 a.m. in hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the regional.
The rest of the Blue Raiders will take part in consolation matches that are yet to be scheduled, with Matasova and Rustemova facing Eastern Kentucky's Alyssa Giupponi and Anastasiia Cherniakova, while Peyer and Palacios have Lipscomb's Martina Bovio and Kameliia Tytarenko as their opponents.
In singles consolation play, Lima will match with Giupponi, while Matasova will compete against Purdue's Ece Gencer, both at 1 p.m.
