Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Falls 7-0 at Auburn Tigers

AUBURN, Ala. – Middle Tennessee lost 7-0 on the road Sunday afternoon at the Yarbrough Tennis Center, with Auburn earning the doubles point and winning all six singles matches.
The Tigers claimed the doubles point to take early control of the match. At court one doubles, Sara Conde and Zora Koenig were defeated 6-3 by Angella Okutoyi and Merna Refaat. Auburn secured the point at court 3 as Alice Battesti and Ashton Bowers topped Zenn Lim and Lena Peyer 6-2. The No. 2 pairing of Rutuja Chaphalkar and Sthefany Lima was locked in a tight contest, trailing just 4-3, when the doubles point was clinched.
In singles, facing Okutoyi, Peyer lost the first set 6-0 but regrouped in the second. She broke back three times, extending games and engaging in long rallies from the baseline. Peyer continued to apply pressure late in the set but ultimately lost 6-3.
Lima fell to Bowers with a score of 6-2, 6-3 on court two. She managed to hold serve multiple times in the second set and while remaining within a single break late in the match before Auburn pulled ahead.
Chaphalkar faced Merna Refaat, losing 6-0, 6-1. Koenig lost to Ava Esposito at the fourth court, with a score of 6-1, 6-0. The blue raider broke once on each court.
Lim was defeated by Eva Ionescu in a match that ended 6-2, 6-3. She remained within one break in the second set, generating multiple baseline exchanges and forcing lengthy rallies throughout the match.
Kholdarova demonstrated resilience against Alice Battesti. After losing the first set 6-1, she settled down in the second, holding serve and keeping the set competitive. She pushed through late games before ultimately losing 6-4 in the second set.
