MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Postseason basketball returns to the Glass House as Middle Tennessee has earned a bid to the WNIT, extending its postseason streak to 23 consecutive seasons.
The Blue Raiders (16-15, 11-7 CUSA) will host the winner of St. Bonaventure and Drexel in the second round of the WNIT on Monday, March 23, inside the Murphy Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on the Blue Raider Network and stream on ESPN+. The matchup would mark the second all-time meeting with St. Bonaventure and a first-ever contest against Drexel. Fans can tune in to watch the first-round matchup between the Bonnies and Dragons on Thursday, March 19, at 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
"We're excited for our players—they've earned this opportunity," said Head Coach Rick Insell. "Obviously, the WNIT isn't the NCAA Tournament, but only 148 teams get the opportunity to play in the postseason across the NCAA Tournament, WBIT, and WNIT. There are some outstanding teams in this field. It also gives our players a great chance to gain more experience and continue to grow. We appreciate the opportunity to extend our season and represent Conference USA."
Middle Tennessee's streak of 23 consecutive postseason appearances includes 14 NCAA Tournament bids, seven WNIT appearances, and one WBIT selection. The Blue Raiders also qualified for postseason play in 2019-20 before the cancellation of all tournaments due to COVID-19.
Tickets
General admission tickets for the WNIT are $10 and can be purchased through the MTSU Ticket Office. All WNIT tickets are mobile, and fans are encouraged to purchase online in advance of game day to avoid delays entering the Murphy Center. Parking will be available in the Greenland Lot for $5.
Middle Tennessee students will receive free admission by presenting a current physical student ID at the ticket office windows, where they will be issued one complimentary ticket.
Gates will open 90 minutes prior to tip-off. BRAA members will receive early entry beginning at 4:45 p.m. CT through the old loading dock entrance, located directly across from the Smith Center.
