Middle Tennessee Drops Road Match at Cornell, 4-0

ITHACA, N.Y. — Middle Tennessee dropped a 4-0 decision to Cornell on Saturday at the Reis Tennis Center. It marked the first shutout loss of the season for the Blue Raiders.
Cornell claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Ondrej Horak and Karim Al-Amin fell 6-4 to Eric Verdes and Rodrigo Fernandes at No. 1, while the duo of Antoine Mayoral and Freddy Murray dropped a 6-2 decision to Petar Teodorovic and Felipe Pinzon at No. 3 in their first match together this season. The match on court two went unfinished.
In singles play, the Big Red secured the match with three straight-set victories on the top courts. Al-Amin fell to No. 80 Fernandes 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, snapping his 10-match singles winning streak. Horak dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Verdes at No. 2. Cornell clinched the match on court three, where Teodorovic defeated junior Birtan Duran 6-4, 6-3.
Three matches remained unfinished. On court four, senior Jonasz Dziopak dropped the opening set 6-4, while Pinzon led 4-3 in the second, and on court five, sophomore Eric Crivei won the first set 6-4, with the second set tied 4-4. Murray took the first set 6-3 and led 4-2 in the second on court six.
