Karim Al-Amin and Ondrej Horak Earn Weekly Men’s Tennis Honors

DALLAS, Texas — Senior Ondrej Horak of Middle Tennessee has been recognized as the Conference USA Athlete of the Week. He and Karim Al-Amin have been awarded the CUSA Men's Doubles Team of the Week for the third time and for consecutive weeks this season per league office.
Horak secured the decisive point on court one, defeating Princeton's Fnu Nidunjianzan with scores of 6-2, 7-5. After a straightforward first set, the second set included three ties. With the score tied at 5-5, Horak won the final two games, bringing MTSU's lead to 5-0 and helping them achieve a sweep against No. 19 Princeton on Friday. In 24 hours later, on Sunday, Horak continued his performance by winning 6-3, 6-2 against Alabama State's Milan Ristov on court one. Although Alabama State attempted to close the gap in the first set at 4-3, Horak won the next two games. The Hornets broke serve twice in the second set, bringing the overall score to 3-1 in favor of MTSU. In a singles match against Austin Peay, Horak was the first to finish, winning 6-4, 2-0 against Rohan Loubser, who retired in the second set. This victory provided the Blue Raiders with their second point, making the score 2-0.
In doubles play, the No. 38-ranked team of Ondrej Horak and Karim Al-Amin achieved a 6-1 win on court one against Alabama State's Gord Fran Mileusnic and Vid Maric. Al-Amin and Horak secured the doubles point by defeating Austin Peay's Rohan Loubser and Logan Tomovski 7-5 on court one. On Friday, the match between Karim Al-Amin and Ondrej Horak against Princeton's Landon Ardila and Evan Wen was left unfinished at a score of 5-4 after the doubles point was claimed.
