DALLAS – On the heels of a dominant finish in the Conference USA regular season, Torey Alston and Kamari Lands have been named to All-Conference teams, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Alston received his second postseason award with his selection to the All-CUSA Third Team, and the All-CUSA Honorable Mention nod is the first postseason honor for Lands.
Torey Alston | All-CUSA Third Team
After being named to the All-Freshman Team last season, Alston has continued to shine as a key member of the Blue Raiders, starting every game this season and averaging the second-most minutes on the team. His six blocked shots against Kennesaw State remain the most of any conference player this season and his nine double-doubles lead Conference USA. Alston notched back-to-back double-doubles against Western Kentucky and Liberty, scoring 13 points and bringing in 11 rebounds against the Hilltoppers followed up by 20 and 12 against the Flames. He tallied three straight against Delaware, UTEP and New Mexico State, the first Blue Raider to do so since Nick King in 2018. The redshirt-sophomore leads the team in rebounding in conference games at 7.6 and is second in points at 13.7. He has the third-most rebounds in the conference with 246 and the fourth-most defensive rebounds per game with 5.74. With 16 double-digit scoring games in conference play, including four 20+, he dominates on both ends of the court.
Kamari Lands | All-CUSA Honorable Mention
In his first full Conference USA season, Lands leads the team in points in league games with 14.5 and has led the team in scoring on 11 occasions this year. He's scored in double-figures in 15 league games and 20+ in six, including a career-best 25 vs. Western Kentucky. The senior has also tallied career highs in assists (seven) and rebounds (nine) during conference play. He has started in every game for the Blue Raiders this season and leads the team in average minutes. Lands has made the most three-pointers for Middle Tennessee in league play with 39 and the most total field goals for the team with 94. He's second on the team with 23 steals during conference play, while dishing out the most assists of non-point guard players.
