MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee closed out the regular season defeating Eastern Kentucky at the Outdoor Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point with wins from the pair of Rutuja Chaphalkar and Zora Koenig, along with Zenn Lim and Lena Peyer, both with the score 7-5.
In singles play, Middle Tennessee continued its dominance, earning victories on four courts. Lena Peyer set the tone with a straight-set win, while Sthefany Lima, Sadbaroy Kholdarova, and Zenn Lim each added points to seal the team victory. On court three, Lima beat Ceylin Ipek 6-1, 6-1, only letting Ipek break twice. Kholdarova won 6-3, 6-1, beating Izem Elif Olcer on court five. Peyer sealed the deal, the match reaching four for the Blue Raiders on court one, battling 7-6 (8-6) and in the second set 7-6 (7-5). On court six, when Lim won the first set and lost the second set, she was leading 5-3 before her opponent retired.
Eastern Kentucky picked up singles wins on two courts, but it was not enough to overcome the gap on courts two and four. Koenig lost to Masha Fedenko 5-7, 4-6 on court two, while winning 9 games combined, it wasn't enough. Sara Conde fell on court four to Marilou Cote 3-6, 6-4.
UP NEXT
Middle Tennessee will shift focus to the Conference USA Tournament, set to take place April 15–18 at the Adams Tennis Complex and Outdoor Tennis Complex.
