Middle Tennessee Advances to CUSA Final, Faces Liberty for Third Straight Year

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee (21-8) punched its ticket to the Conference USA Championship match with a 4-0 semifinal win over Delaware on Saturday at the Outdoor Tennis Complex.
Following their semifinal victory, No. 1 Middle Tennessee will meet No. 2 Liberty in the CUSA Championship final for the third consecutive season on Sunday.
MTSU leads the series 2-0 in all-time between the programs.
The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point and added three straight singles victories to clinch the match.
Middle Tennessee quickly took control in doubles. Ondrej Horak and Antoine Mayoral secured a 7-6 (8-6) clinched the doubles point. Karim Al-Amin and Birtan Duran won with a 6-4 victory at court three.
In singles, Horak set the tone with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1. Al-Amin followed with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at court two, giving MTSU a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Eric Crivei sealed the match on court five, grinding out a 7-6, 6-2 win to send the Blue Raiders to the finals for the seventh time in a row.
