MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee great Jalynn Gregory has been named to the Blue Raiders women's basketball staff, as announced by Head Coach Matt Insell on Monday.
"Jalynn is everything you want in someone to represent this program," said Coach Insell. "She's been a leader for us on the floor, but what really stands out is her work ethic, her basketball IQ, and the way she connects with people. She understands our culture; she's lived it every day, and that makes this a natural transition. We're excited to have her on staff and know she's going to make an immediate impact on our players and our program."
Gregory's name is synonymous with Blue Raider basketball, as she finished her career as the program's all-time leader in three-pointers made (343) while ranking among Conference USA's top shooters in both three-pointers made and free throw percentage (88.1%). A key piece of the winningest class in program history, she scored in double figures in 82 games, surpassed 1,500 career points, and helped anchor a 2024–25 defense that ranked No. 1 nationally, cementing her legacy as one of the program's top all-around players.
"I'm incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to step into the role of assistant coach," said Gregory. "This program has meant so much to me through my 5 years of playing and being a part of the program. I'm excited to continue building on its strong tradition and culture. Being able to give back to a place that helped shape me both on and off the court is truly special. I'm passionate about continuing to develop our players, competing at a high level, and representing MTSU with pride. I'm thankful to our coaching staff for their trust and support, and I can't wait to get to work with this team. Go Blue!"
The Lafayette, Tennessee, native was a standout both on and off the court, earning All-Conference USA honors in all four seasons while consistently being recognized among the league's top academic performers. Highlighted by CUSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, she also collected multiple All-Tournament selections, weekly conference awards, and repeated placements on the Commissioner's Honor Roll and academic teams throughout her career.
After earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Biology and Athletic Coaching in 2024, Gregory remained with the program as a women's basketball graduate assistant and is set to receive her Master of Professional Studies with a concentration in Strategic Leadership in May 2026.
