MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Three cross country student-athletes earned Conference USA weekly honors after their performances at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. last Friday, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Evalyne Wambui and Allan Kiplagat were named the Women's and Men's Athlete of the Week and Viviana Salonia earned Women's Freshman of the Week honors.
Wambui placed fourth in the three-mile race with a time of 18:58.95. She was the top finisher for the Blue Raiders, finishing ahead of runners from Tennessee and Kentucky. The honor marks Wambui's second Conference USA Athlete of the Week award as a Blue Raider.
Kiplagat led the field in the four-mile race, crossing the finish line in 19:12.38. His first-place finish among 23 runners earned him the individual tile and made him the fastest junior in the competition.
