Men’s Tennis performs well in Rocky Top Invite day one

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team completed the first of three days at the Rocky Top Invite at the University of Tennessee, winning one of its two doubles bouts and three of four singles contests against Louisville on Friday.
In doubles play, the Blue Raider duo of Eric Crivei and Aryan Saleh defeated Artem Dmytrenko and Maksim Hristov 6-4, while the newcomer pair of John Popowich and Clement Mayoral fell to Russell Lokko and Jerald Carroll, 6-2.
MTSU dominated in singles competition, with Mayoral getting revenge from his doubles loss by defeating Carroll in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
Saleh only dropped two games in an exemplary showing on the court, claiming victory over Louis Chusseau in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
Being the only returner for the Blue Raiders in the invite, Crivei showed out, beating Preston Taylor in a three-set shootout, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Only Popowich dropped his singles match to open the tournament, victim of defeat to Lucas Bazin in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Day two of the Rocky Top Invite will begin at 9 a.m. ET with doubles play, before singles commence at 2 p.m. ET.
