Men's Tennis splits in singles on final day of Rocky Top Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team completed the final day of the Rocky Top Invite on Sunday, falling in its only doubles match and winning two of its four singles bouts.
The unbeaten pairing of Eric Crivei and Aryan Saleh did not compete in doubles on Sunday, while Clement Mayoral and John Popowich fell to Indiana's Matteo Antonescu and Zavier Augustin, 6-4.
The Blue Raiders split the singles points with IU, beginning with Sam Scherer taking down Mayoral in a tight three-set match, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Ariel Zauber added a second win for the Hoosiers against Popowich, earning a 7-5, 6-2 victory in straight sets.
Winning his second singles match out of three on the weekend, Saleh took care of business against Antonescu in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Evening up the singles score was the Blue Raiders' other standout performer, as Crivei edged out Augustin in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
After the conclusion of the tournament, MTSU posted an even 6-6 singles record and a narrowly negative 2-3 doubles mark.
Up next, the Blue Raiders will make the short trip to Nashville for the Vanderbilt Invite between Oct. 2-4.
