Wambui and Kiplagat named Conference USA Athletes of the Week

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Evalyne Wambui and Allan Kiplagat were named Conference USA Athletes of the Week after their performances at the Memphis Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tenn. last Saturday, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Wambui made an impressive debut in the Women's 5K, racing to a first-place finish with an outstanding time of 16:37.71. Her performance set a meet record, surpassing the previous mark by 0.99 seconds. Wambui led a field of 168 competitors from Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas State and other programs to secure her victory. The performance earned Wambui her first weekly honor as a Blue Raider.
Kiplagat continued his impressive career, successfully defending his title in the men's four-mile race for the second consecutive year. He crossed the finish line first with a winning time of 18:54.26, taking the top spot in a competitive field while leading the Blue Raiders to a team victory. Kiplagat finished ahead of 186 competitors from Arkansas State, Ole Miss, Alabama and several other programs. This is Kiplagat's third Athlete of the Week honor as a Blue Raider.
