AJ Reisig is in his second season as a member of Derek Mason’s coaching staff. Reisig coaches the linebackers.
COACHING HIGHLIGHTS:
At Middle Tennessee, linebackers, 2024-present
• Date Hired: Jan. 23, 2024
• His unit accounted for three of the top eight tacklers on the team in 2024 with all three setting personal-bests in totals stops (Parker Hughes, Jalen Davis and Jordan Thompson)
At Houston Roughnecks, linebackers, 2023
• The Roughnecks went 7-3, led the league in total defense and Reisig’s linebackers were second and third in the league in total tackles
At Maryland, senior defensive analyst, 2021-22
• Helped lead the Terps to back-to-back bowl wins for the first time since 2003 and an eight-win season for the first time since 2010
• Coached four NFL Draft picks during his second stint at Maryland
At U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, run game coordinator/defensive line, 2020
• Team only played one game in 2020 due to COVID-19
• Was promoted to defensive coordinator in March 2021 but left in August before the 2021 season started
At Towson, senior defensive analyst/assistant safeties, 2019
• Team went 7-5, including a win over No. 7 Maine
At Lehigh, cornerbacks and rovers, 2016-18
• While at Lehigh, the Mountain Hawks won back-to-back Patriot League Championships and appeared in the NCAA FCS National Championship Playoffs in 2016 and 2017
• Under his tutelage, the Lehigh defense improved from 109th to 8th in the nation in Total Interceptions with 17, while also improving drastically in Defensive Pass Efficiency from 108th to 29th in the FCS with a rating of 117.66 in 2016
At Maryland, graduate assistant, 2013-15
• Assisted a defense that ranked in the top third of the FBS in both total defense and pass defense in 2013 and pass efficiency defense in 2014
• Midway through the 2015 season, Reisig took over the Terrapins outside linebackers, and guided that unit through Maryland’s final six games. Maryland’s defense ranked 23rd in tackles-for-loss and 14th in sacks among FBS teams in 2015
• Also worked with Maryland’s kickoff coverage units and a punt return unit that led the Big Ten and ranked fifth nationally
• Coached three NFL Draft picks
At Shippensburg, graduate assistant, 2011-12
• Helped improve a defense that ranked 113th in pass efficiency before he arrived, into one that ranked 13th in Division II in 2011 and 42nd in 2012
• Shippensburg won the PSAC Eastern Division with a 10-0 record in 2012 and advanced to the second round of the Division II playoffs

• Defense went from 232nd nationally in pass defense in 2008 to 22nd nationally in 2009 and then rose to ninth in 2010
