Hunter MacKay is in his third season as a graduate assistant on Rick Stockstill’s staff. MacKay works on the offensive side of the ball as a graduate assistant.
MacKay spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons on the Samford football staff as an offensive quality control coach.
In his first season at Samford, MacKay coached offensive tackles in individual drills and in pod work. He was also in charge of breaking down blitz and front tendencies each week. On game days, he was responsible for charting fronts and blitzing from the press box, and for pass protection and run game adjustments.
MacKay served as the wide receivers coach at Mount De Sales Academy in the fall of 2015. He worked as an intern receivers coach at Mercer from January 2015 to February 2016. His first coaching job came as the strength and conditioning coach at Mount De Sales Academy from January to May of 2014.
MacKay earned his B.B.A. degree in sports business management from Mercer in May 2015.
