Mitch Stewart, a former collegiate head coach, is in his second season as a member of Rick Stockstill’s coaching staff. Stewart serves as the offensive coordinator and inside receivers coach.

At Middle Tennessee, offensive coordinator/inside receivers, 2023-present
• Date Hired: Feb. 14, 2022
• Recruiting Area: Nationally for offense, spot recruit top offensive players, NW Tennessee, SW Georgia
• Added inside receivers to his duties in January 2023
At Middle Tennessee, offensive coordinator, 2022
• Guided a 2022 unit that ranked 16th nationally in completion percentage, 36th in passing offense, produced five Honorable Mention All-CUSA players, and produced just the second quarterback in school history with multiple 400-yard passing games (Chase Cunningham)
At Samford, offensive coordinator/wide receivers, 2020-21
• In 2020, the offense led the Southern Conference in scoring offense, total offense, passing offense and pass efficiency. Five offensive players were named to the All-SoCon team, including Player of the Year and All-American quarterback Liam Welch. Wide receiver Ty King had a break-out year, finishing second in the SoCon in receiving yards per game and third in receptions per game
• In 2021, Stewart's offense ranked sixth nationally in the FCS in scoring (37.9), ninth in passing offense (307.5), 10th in total offense (448.7) and ninth in red zone offense. Quarterback Welch and receiver Montrell Washington both earned first team all-conference honors
At Murray State, head coach, 2016-19
• During his time in charge of the Racers' program, Stewart led K.D. Humphries to becoming the program's all-time leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, pass attempts and pass completions
• Stewart's 2018 team posted the program's best season in seven years. Six players off that team earned All-OVC honors. Stewart also led the Racers to the largest comeback in program history, overcoming a 31-point deficit to defeat Southeast Missouri
• His Murray State offenses ranked either first or second in the OVC in four of his five seasons, including leading the league in 2015 and 2016.
• Engineered upset of No. 24 UT Martin in 2017 for three wins over ranked opponents in two years
At Murray State, offensive coordinator (2011-15)
• As the offensive coordinator, Stewart's offenses consistently ranked among the OVC and national leaders in passing offense and total offense. His 2013 unit also rushed for 1,886 yards, the most for the Racers in nearly a decade.
• In 2012, coached quarterback Casey Brockman to All-America honors for the second straight season
At Murray State, wide receivers/special teams coordinator (2010)
• Wide receiver Marcus Harris left MSU as the all-time leader in receptions (216) and yards (2,471) and earned All-America honors from the Associated Press and The Sports Network
At Georgia Southern, wide receivers (2007-09)
• In his second season, the Eagles' offense led the SoCon and ranked 20th nationally in passing offense
• Coached receiver Raja Andrews who shattered three season records, one single-game mark and the career receptions record at GSU
