Rick Mallory, a veteran coach who spent five seasons as a player in the NFL before beginning his coaching career, is in his 11th year as a member of Rick Stockstill’s staff and his first back coaching the offensive line after handling the tight ends/H-back in 2022. Mallory spent six years as the offensive line coach from 2016-21. Mallory also served as the offensive tackles/tight ends coach during his first three seasons at Middle Tennessee.
COACHING HIGHLIGHTS:
At Middle Tennessee, offensive line (2023-present)
• Recruiting Area: Southeast Tennessee, Northwest Georgia, Southwest Florida, East Alabama, Northeast Mississippi
• Moved back to the offensive line in January 2023
At Middle Tennessee, tight ends/H-backs (2022)
• Took over as the tight ends/H-back coach in February 2022

• Led an offensive line during his tenure at MT that has helped produce the all-time leading passer and all-time leading receiver
• Helped Robert Jones earn back-to-back All-CUSA nods in 2019-20 and an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl in 2020
• 2019 offensive line helped MT rank third in CUSA in rushing (first in league games), while producing a 1,000-yard rushing quarterback in Asher O’Hara
• Helped guide an offensive line in 2016 that produced a 1,000-yard rusher and 1,000-yard receiver for the first time in school history, while helping the offense set 11 single-season records
• 2016 unit allowed the fewest sacks (11th nationally) in CUSA despite throwing the most passes
• Mentored an offensive line that paved the way for a school record 4,052 rushing yards in 2015
• Coached tight end Terry Pettis in 2015, who ranked No. 8 nationally in yards per reception (21.1) and hauled in five passes of 40 yards or more
At Memphis, offensive line, 2000-09
• Helped lead the Tigers to five bowl berths in 10 seasons
• Coached an offensive line that blocked for DeAngelo Williams, who earned All-America honors in 2004 and 2005
• In four of his last six seasons, the Memphis offensive line led CUSA in fewest sacks allowed
