Robert Barbieri, a four-year letterman and three-year starter at defensive end for Ithaca College, joined Rick Stockstill’s staff in 2017 for his first post-graduate coaching job. He works as a quality control with the defense.
The 2017 Blue Raider defense finished 35th nationally in total defense, 30th in rush defense and 16th in tackles for loss.
In his four years at Ithaca, Barbieri tallied 104 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He was named team captain in the 2016 season for his work ethic, experience and leadership among the Bombers. In 2014, he was named to the Empire 8 Athletic Conference all-defensive team.
Off the field, Barbieri, a New York native, graduated with a degree in Sport Management in 2017 and worked in both Ithaca and Marist College athletic departments, interning for football in both stops.
