Luke Garrett is in his second year as an assistant athletic director for equipment operations at Middle Tennessee.
In his role, Garett oversees the equipment ordering of all athletic teams at Middle Tennessee, leads a staff of 12 students, handles the logistics for all road games and prepares the practice facility and his staff for all Blue Raider football practices.
Garrett, who’s certified by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA), previously worked at Auburn University for three years, serving as assistant equipment manager for the Tigers’ football and men’s and women’s golf teams.
Prior to his work at Auburn, Garrett was the head football equipment manager at Eastern Kentucky University following a stint as an assistant equipment manager at Georgia State University. He’s also held a training camp internship with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Garrett has a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with an emphasis in sports management from Tennessee Tech, where he graduated in 2011 and also held an internship and was an equipment manager. He was also an equipment manager during his time as a graduate assistant at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he graduated in 2013 with a master’s degree in exercise science with an emphasis in sports management.
A native of Columbia, Tennessee, coming to Middle Tennessee is a bit of a homecoming for Garrett and his wife, Amber Hinson Garrett, who’s a MT alumnus.
