Jovon Shaw joined the Middle Tennessee Athletics Department as Head Men's Basketball Strength and Conditioning Coach in August of 2020. Shaw oversees all aspects of athletic performance for Blue Raider Men's Basketball and Softball.
Prior to arriving at MTSU, Shaw served as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Iowa State University from March 2019- August 2020. Shaw oversaw all aspects of training for the ISU Softball, Soccer and Men's and Women's Golf teams.
Shaw served as Assistant Sports Performance Coach at Saint Louis University prior to Iowa State, and was responsible for design and implementation of training programs for Softball, Volleyball, Track & Field, Swim/Dive and Field Hockey.
Before his tenure at SLU, Shaw served as Sports Performance Assistant at the University of Kansas where he directly oversaw the development and implementation of training programs for Women's Rowing and Dance. He also assisted with six other athletic teams including: Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Men's Golf and Women's Tennis.
Shaw completed internships at The University of Kansas working with 12 intercollegiate athletic teams; The University of Illinois working primarily with Softball, Soccer, Baseball, Volleyball, and Women's Basketball; and Eastern Illinois University working primarily with Football and Men's Soccer.
A native of Danville, Illinois, Shaw earned both his Master's (2017) and Bachelor's of Science (2016) in Kinesiology-Exercise Science from Eastern Illinois University. Shaw is a former member of the Central College (Pella, IA) and Eastern Illinois University Tack & Field Teams.
Shaw is a certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and holds his Adult First Aid/CPR/AED Certification through the American Red Cross.
