Eddie Sanders enters his fourth season with Middle Tennessee women’s basketball team as the coordinator for basketball relations on Head Coach Rick Insell's staff.
Sanders has a varied background as a high school educator, basketball coach and has served in many different capacities in religious ministries.
His duties at Middle Tennessee include, but are not limited to, assisting with administrative aspects of the program. Essential tasks will include: oversight of day-to-day correspondence with university officials, oversight of daily on-going recruiting activities, community outreach and community service projects and NCAA Life Skill programs developed for women's basketball student-athletes.
Sanders was most recently the head girls’ basketball coach at Harding University High School in Charlotte, N.C., where he served in that capacity for two season.
Sanders began his coaching career as a student assistant at his alma mater, Freed-Hardeman, from 1989-to-93 before beginning his prep coaching career at Henry County High School in Paris, Tenn. From there, Sanders accepted a coaching position at Shelbyville Central High School where he worked with the boys’ basketball program. During his time in Shelbyville, Tenn., Sanders also was heavily involved with the AAU Boys’ Basketball Program.
After his stint at Shelbyville, Sanders became an instructor at Friendship Christian in Lebanon, Tenn., before beginning a career as a minister at Macedonia Church of Christ in Columbia, Tenn. Sanders also has served as a minister at churches in Kentucky and North Carolina.
Originally from Paris, Tenn., Sanders received his bachelor’s degree at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn., and he also has a Masters of Science in psychology. Sanders is married to the former Annette McGowan.
