Shelby Davis enters her second season as Assistant Coach – Coordinator of Basketball Relations on Head Coach Rick Insell’s staff, continuing a strong connection to the Middle Tennessee women’s basketball program that began during her undergraduate years.
A native of McKenzie, Tennessee, Davis has been an integral part of the Blue Raider family for the past four seasons, including three as a student assistant before transitioning into a full-time role. Her tireless work ethic, attention to detail, and infectious enthusiasm quickly made her a valued member of the program. Whether helping coordinate practice drills, breaking down film, or supporting game-day operations, Davis has consistently contributed to the Blue Raiders’ success both on and off the court.
Now entering her second season in a full-time coaching role, Davis works directly alongside Coach Insell and his staff to help cultivate a competitive and disciplined NCAA Division I program. Her wide-ranging responsibilities include player development, recruiting academically and athletically talented student-athletes, coordinating travel and recruiting logistics, and fostering community engagement through service initiatives and Life Skills programs. She also assists with maintaining NCAA compliance, evaluating eligibility transcripts, managing digital platforms, and organizing game-day recruiting activities.
A former student-athlete herself, Davis brings a unique understanding of team culture and player relationships. Her passion for mentorship and holistic player development aligns seamlessly with the program’s philosophy of building champions on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.
Davis earned her Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies from Middle Tennessee in Fall 2024 and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Basketball runs deep in her family — her sister, Savannah, is a former member of the Blue Raider roster — further reinforcing Shelby’s connection to the program she has helped shape from within.
