Mark Bouwmeester joined the Blue Raider athletic department as Associate Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist in August 2023.
Bouwmeester comes to MTSU after serving Vanderbilt’s Football program in partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After graduating from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2019, Bouwmeester would continue his education at Marquette, receiving a Doctorate’s in Physical Therapy in 2021.
Bouwmeester got his first start in athletic training with the Herndon Braves of the Cal Ripken Baseball League in 2016 as an athletic training intern. He would go on to intern with Athletic Performance LLC., Wisconsin Coaches Scouting Service Basketball Camps, Wisconsin Lutheran College, and the Green Bay Packers.
After becoming a licensed athletic trainer, Bouwmeester would work for Froedtert Health between 2019 and 2021, serving local universities and high schools in the Milwaukee area. During this time, he would also work as a student physical therapist at Performance in Motion and EXOS.
During their 2021 football season, Bouwmeester worked with the University of Wisconsin as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, proving daily treatments and collaborating with team doctors to optimize player care.
