Hannah Hoefs was hired as an assistant soccer coach on July 19, 2022. She completed her third season with the Blue Raiders in 2024, and her first as an associate head coach.
In her third season in Murfreesboro, Hoefs helped lead the Blue Raiders to an 8-10-1 overall record and a CUSA Tournament berth, reaching the semifinal following a penalty shootout win over Sam Houston in the quarterfinals. In conference play, Middle Tennessee went 5-4 in 2024, including wins over UTEP, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Western Kentucky and Louisiana Tech. The Blue Raiders featured six players on the All-Conference awards list, including Midfielder of the Year Manon Lebargy and Freshman of the Year Lexi Dendis. Lauren Spaanstra, Idun Kvaale, Risui Arasaki and Aireona Duenez also received All-Conference nods.
In Oct. 2023, Hoefs was selected to the United Soccer Coaches 30-under-30 program for the Class of '24. The class featured 30 individuals from 18 different states, seclected from a pool of over 270 participants. The program is a yer-long education and mentorship opportunity designed to support up-and-coming members of the coaching profession who are 30 years of age or younger.
On July 6, 2024, Hoefs recieved her National C Coaching License from U.S. Soccer for the second consecutive year.
The Marylander oversees all aspects of the program, with an emphasis on midfielders. In 2023, midfielders Manon Lebargy and Eleanor Gough made leaps in performance, with Lebargy leading the squad with eight goals and 19 points, and Gough following right behind with five goals and 12 points. Lebargy was named to the Conference USA All-Conference Second Team, while Gough eanred a Third Team selection.
Additionaly, Hoefs guided Yana Yordanova and Sascha Nielsen as they transitioned from playing the back line to being highly effective midfielders.
In 2022, she helped land two student-athletes to the CUSA All-Academic Second Team in Caroline Manley and Jennifer Francis.
Emma Pettersen and Idun Kvaale also had breakout years under Hoefs in 2022, with Pettersen equaling the team high in goals (four) and points (eight).
Hoefs also spearheads off the field initiatives including community service. The Blue Raider soccer program won the 2023 Raiders Choice Award for community service among each fellow MTSU athletic program.
Hoefs joined the Blue Raiders from Shenandoah University, where she coached for a year and a half during two different stints with the Hornets.
Before coming to MTSU, Hoefs started her second stint on Liz Pike's staff at Shenandoah after having rejoined the staff in December 2021. Hoefs was the Hornets' primary recruiter, worked to organize travel for coaches, developed recruiting schedules, conducted campus visits, and facilitated communication with recruits.
Prior to rejoining the Hornets' staff, Hoefs coached the fall 2021 season from July to November at Mount St. Mary's working primarily with the midfielders and forwards.
Hoefs began her collegiate coaching career when she first joined the coaching staff at Shenandoah in June 2020 following her standout career as a midfielder at Loyola University of Maryland.
As a Greyhound, Hoefs' impressive senior campaign earned her Patriot League Midfielder of the Year honors after leading the league in goals scored and points. Hoefs was also recognized as All-Region, becoming the first Greyhound since the 2015 season to earn all-region second team honors, in addition to being named All-Patriot League First Team and Patriot League All-Tournament Team. Hoefs was also a 2018 All-Patriot League selection after leading the Greyhounds in goals and assists during her junior campaign.
In addition to her collegiate experience, Hoefs has also served in numerous youth coaching capacities.
The New Market, Md. native, graduated with her bachelor's degree in communications and journalism from Loyola University (Md.) in 2020.
