Lindsay Opie

Lindsay Opie joined Middle Tennessee Athletics in August 2022 as a Sports Performance Dietitian. Her duties include conducting comprehensive nutritional assessment utilizing the nutrition care process and nutrition focused physical exams on over 300 collegiate student athletes upon request. She presents nutrition focused team talks as needed. Opie develops and implements individualized care plans with athlete-centered goals in accord with medical goals and objectives. Her work also includes communication and collaborative efforts with MTSU's multidisciplinary team..
Opie works closely and in tandem with each Blue Raider athletic program and with the sports medicine department.
Before coming to the Murfreesboro campus, Opie served as a Sports Performance Dietetic Intern at ProTeam Tactical. In her time in 2021 at the venture based out of Indianapolis, Ind., she designed 90+ research-based, nutrition related social media posts to accompany 30 online courses created for tactical athletes, specifically first responders, law enforcement and firefighters.
From 2017-20, Opie was a Sports Performance Dietitian at 615 SportsTraining in Murfreesboro, where she specialized in comprehensive nutritional assessment utilizing the nutrition care process and nutrition focused physical exams on athletes of all ages and levels of sport.
Opie also volunteered with the FBI SWAT team and US Marine Corps as a tactical dietician, providing nutrition counseling services while also coordinating and managing logistics for proper fueling strategies for travel, missions, and emergency scenarios.
Opie received her undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, earning a BS in Food and Nutrition with a Specialization in Dietetics, and played golf at SIU-C. She also has a MS in Nutrition and Dietetics with a Specialization in Sports Nutrition from Texas Tech University.
The participant of six half marathons, four triathlons and one marathon is also a mother of six. Her son Ezekiel plays soccer for UT-Southern and her daughter Hannah plays soccer at UT-Chattanooga.
